Mrs. Mary Jo Copeland
Mary Jo Copeland touches the lives of over 1,600 people every day as director of Sharing & Caring Hands in Minneapolis. After raising 12 children, she got involved in volunteer work, and in 1985 she founded Sharing & Caring Hands. What began as a small volunteer organization has become a $5 million facility with a monthly budget of over $300,000 which provides food, health care, and housing for the poor. Copeland's service to the community has inspired some to call her an "urban saint," and earned her many honors, including a National Caring Award and the Norman Vincent Peale Unsung Hero Award.
